NEW DELHI: NEC Corporation of America has appointed former Idemia executive Gary Lac as Vice President of Solutions to lead product standardization, launch new products for the company’s growing customer base and support new other vertical markets.

Lac brings more than 20 years of experience selling, developing and delivering biometric and identity solutions to NEC, the company said in a statement.

“Gary’s experience makes him a valuable asset as we seek to meet growing customer demand and simplify the delivery of our current portfolio of solutions,” said Eugene le Roux, Vice President, International Operations and national government for NEC’s Digital Services business group. “His product development vision will be key as NEC expands its presence in the digital services industry with new product launches and partnerships in the near future.”

As Vice President of Solutions, Lac will also support the state and local government, NEC National Security Systems (NSS) and Digital Services verticals.

Modi, in his 76th Independence Day speech, referred to the comprehensive development of technology in the country, from 5G to the promotion of microchips, the laying of an optical fiber cable (OFC) network in villages and activating digital entrepreneurship in villages through Common Service Centers, making this decade a “techade” for India.

“NEC is transforming the biometric and digital identity industry with proven and trusted world-class technology,” said Lac. “As our law enforcement and government partners transform into digital-first organizations, I am excited to develop innovative solutions that will improve society and support our customers in their mission to create safe and secure communities. “

Prior to joining NEC, Lac led the Solutions Innovation organization at Idemia, where he was responsible for the development and delivery of digital identity solutions, facial recognition solutions for aviation and border control, fingerprint digital contactless events and industry benchmark events for emerging technologies. In addition, Gary also led the public safety pre-sales solutions organization.
