LawSikho, a legal edtech company based in Gurugram, has announced 100% scholarships for 500 Persons with Disabilities (PWD). Candidates who successfully complete the courses will be co-certified by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

Law graduates and law students will take an online admission test to decide who is eligible for the scholarships, which will cover LawSikho’s test preparation courses for government jobs, advanced courses focused on jobs in the private sector and distance self-employment courses focused on international markets. such as the United States, United Kingdom and Canada.

To qualify for the admission test, applicants must produce a government-issued disability card or disability certificate. Of 500 places, 300 will be reserved for graduates and law students, while 200 will be open to non-lawyer candidates interested in remote freelance work. The admission test will take place in October, but applicants can take an on-demand online admission test even later. The goal is to deploy all 500 scholarships before December 2022.

“A small-scale pilot project has already been tested and more than 100 applicants have benefited from it so far. to make our services more inclusive,” said Ramanuj Mukherjee, CEO of LawSikho.

Masoom Reza, 24, an LLB from Jamia Millia Islamia who is currently enrolled in NLSIU Bengaluru as an LLM student, is among many outstanding students who have previously been part of LawSikho’s Disability Scholarship Scheme . Completely visually impaired since the age of seven, Masoom took our Forensic Test Preparation Course in 2021 as part of his preparation for the Court Services competition and applied for a full scholarship, which he was awarded.

Speaking about his LawSikho experience in general, Masoom, who ranked third at the Indian Law Institute CAT for LLM, says the teaching method is “amazing”, and adds that he particularly benefited from the practice sessions. of Lawsikho and the faculty’s approach of linking various laws for better understanding.

“Many job seekers with disabilities find remote work much more appropriate and convenient, but there are very few programs for them. Given LawSikho’s success in helping Indian graduates secure remote work opportunities through the world, we thought this would be the perfect time for scholarships for applicants who are also disabled people (Divyangjan) We have already offered free admission to more than a hundred applicants, and on the basis from this initial success, we decided to expand the program,” said Vibhas Sen, Marketing Manager, LawSikho, an IIM-C alumnus and Paralympian himself, who has been affected by polio in both legs. .
