Konami Holdings Corporation will soon be changing its name as part of the company’s 50th anniversary celebrations later this year. The company’s board of directors has decided to rename the company to Konami Group Corporation, which will be finalized after shareholder approval (thanks, VGC). If all goes well, the change should go into effect on July 1.
“Since its inception, the company has expanded its business as a pioneer in the Japanese entertainment industry and now operates in four business segments: Digital Entertainment, Entertainment, Games & Systems, and Sports,” Konami said in a statement. .
“Marking the 50th anniversary of the company since its inception, we will be changing the trading name so that we, together with its group companies, continue to meet new challenges and continue to grow as a sustainable business.”
Konami has had all eyes on the recently released major update for eFootball. The game launched with numerous issues, mostly related to broken animations in the game, which made players look rather nightmarish.
“It’s hard to point to a deal breaker,” a spokesperson said ahead of the update’s launch. “The incompleteness of the game is the result of several factors, including the transition to a new football game engine, support for next-gen consoles such as PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, change in style of play in free to play and in addition, we tried to bring the new eFootball 2022 to the players as soon as possible.”
The developer made it clear that it pays attention to all feedback received from players. “We take the opinions of our players very seriously,” the spokesperson continued. “Since the release last September, we have prioritized improvements and fixes based on the feedback and feedback we have received. We will continue to work on improving the game and as always, valuable player feedback is greatly appreciated. .”
While a number of changes have been made, as well as a number of additions, unfortunately it looks like it won’t change much of the perception the game left players with when it launched. Unfortunately, for Konami, this perception led to it becoming one of the lowest rated games of 2021.
